Always got time for sizzle from the Neues Deutschland grill, but at this point think it’s fair to say that SW (Stefan Wud) is out on his own – in terms of making stuff that’s every bit as screw-loose and unpretentiously avant as anything by his Acido/SUED compadres, but which hits home a little harder – and faster - thanks to his penchant for sweeping, bloozy, Detroit-influenced synths...beautiful fretworks of small-hours bleeps and strings that effortlessly connect you to the LOST DOMAIN. As with his Reminder Part 3Untitled (aka The Album) and certified LC classic ‘Extended Mix’, all of which (and each in different ways) flirted very fruitfully with broken beat and a very refined form of junglism  – the tracks on SW’s side of SUE019 at first seem pretty conventional, if LOVELY, but then slowly, surely shape-shift: ‘Deepmix’ especially so, it’s gauzy deep house cloak riding up to reveal a gleaming endoskeleton of rudeboy bassline and pared-down garage drums – pure Exemen or Groove Chronicles vibes - before flapping right back down againCheeky! Meanwhile SVN holds his own on the flip with the dreamy ‘Mechine 5’ and a more pensive, end-of-the-line Chain Reaction-ish cut. GREAT 12”, what did you expect?!
