While I continue to kick myself for selling nigh-on half the pressing of Oroskällan's first LP via our humble shoppe but somehow neglecting to stash a copy for myself, I can at least take comfort in the arrival of the new one from Blod and Dan Johansson (Neutral, Sewer Election ++), which is just as good, albeit taking a less obviously folky tack than its predecessor and doubling down on the bruised, bleak, tape-smudged minimal synth themes. Its queasy oscillations still somehow feel like a product of ye olde world, grimly ceremonial (trying SO hard not to make a facile reference to Midsommar - oops!), or mebbe just healing music for those who cannot be healed cos modern medicine hasn't been invented yet (so just chew on these petals and bleed out and if you're lucky the wild woves will finish you off in the night eh mate). Hard to think of comparisons but Blod's solo work and the lonesome bleary forest fires of Kuupuu might help orientate you. Fully zonked PTSD vibes... ideal for July 2020!
