No, thanking YOU. Outstanding cassette compilation of all-new, previously unreleased material courtesy of Francis Plagne’s Mould Museum private press, drawn from a close network of the artist's pals and collaborators. Appropriately enough, the rarefied yet sumptuous textures and contours of the nine pieces gathered here are similar to those you find in Plagne’s own work (who remembers Moss Trumpet
!?), taking in pensive minimal electronics, stately stiff-backed chamber music investigations, musique concrete, and subdued baroque pop. Will Guthrie and Oren Ambarchi unsettle the air with the fevered oscillations and gamelan drizzle of their tape-collage ‘Son-In-Law Eggs’; James Rushford coaxes a high-lonesome dronescape from what sounds like a church-organ, swelling to a hymnal climax that sounds at once medieval and untouchably alien, even futuristic, like something out of Akos Rozmann maybe; Alex Macfarlane's ‘Burden of Boundaries’ sounds like waterlogged flotsam scooped out of the Beach Boys’ Surfs Up
and smeared with moody Moog sustains (Plagne's suggestion that it sounds like "a bedroom tribute to Jade Warrior" is also spot-on). Pitch-perfect contributions too from Delphine Dora, Julia Reidy, Tim Coster, Rohan Drape, Julia Ready, Andrew Chalk, Joe Talia and Daisuke Suzuki.
