New 12" from a personal favourite, and underrated, producer - Annechoic, whose ultra-moody broken tekno / electro 12"s on Audiofugitives circa 2012-13 are essential listening.
Bookended by two atmospheric ambient / downtempo pieces, the protein of the EP is a trio of ruthless, relentless, for-the-ravers constructions, the most immediate being 'Sheut' - a hard-hitting, ruthlessly minimal drexciyan depth-charge primed for ripping their throats out in the club....but it's actually the bleepy, stripped-back jak-attak / belligerent one-note bassline of 'Ba' that I keep coming back to...SO GOOD. The same thing appeals to me about this 12" as did about her older stuff: it feels very well-honed and considered and classily put together, and can be emotionally eloquent when it wants to be, but also has a sorta no-frills, no-fucks, anti-fashion, end-of-the-world, free-party bad-nrg to it that you can't fake. It's the real stuff, basically.
