Icy, widowmakin' dnb / cratered tekno hybrids from London's DB1 (Nullpunkt, Hidden Hawaii) and Alphacut-affiliated DYL and Paragon. DB1's 'Late Night' is a bone-dry, drone-strafed, ultra-cavernous nitecrawler that feels very much of a piece with Shiken Hanzo's recent stuff, but you could easily also cite Raime's early productions or the most dub-demolished bits of the Boreal Massif LP; his 'Tone', meanwhile, is I think intended as a DJ tool but actually serves nicely as a stand-alone piece of duppy-stirring Isolationist dread. DYL's 'YDNTKNW' ploughs a similarly gloomy furrow, with obvious parallels to recent UVB-76 an ANA gear; and Paragon serves up the growling, industrial stomp 'Black Celebration' (sadly not a 'peche cover). Sick 12"... upfront copies!
