Despite LC feeling a bit like a timber yard of late, we have here another VA compilation housed in wooden packaging that MORE than warrants the use of our planet's dwindling resources / your time. A pupil-dilating collection of work from contemporary artists, a LIMITLESS VISION deftly considered and conceptualised by Cor Ardens, who have really put in the legwork to bring you this globe-trotting twenty tracker of isolationist sound sketches and perspective shifting spoken-word pieces.
For us, the first couple of listens to “First Citizens Of The Moon” yielded a couple unquestionable stand-outs - the cold night air waves of Blue Chemise’s “Return To Sandy Point” or the looping, Turman-esque transportation of Church Shuttle’s eight minute, Mid-West epique “West Virginia Dreamer”. However once you start to get familiar with the comp’s unchained ebb, the moon madness of “First Citizens..” begins to float into your lugs as one solid lunar ray of dream-thieving art / music, with contributions from Ami Yamasaki, Yixuan Pan, Tavishi and John M. Bennett all stitched together with an insightful, mutant wisdom. Blessings such as this don’t fall to earth too often - highest possible recommendation!
