Double LP of previously unreleased recordings that bring to light Mika Vainio’s earliest musical endeavours…UNREAL.
Truly blown away by this. It’s hard to believe these tracks haven’t received some post-production anabolics when Vainio compiled them from his own archive in 2015, the surging, pavement-shattering sine waves and THAT planetary static that snakes in and out of this collection so frighteningly well formed for what is billed as, what, he and his pals garage band!?
Laden with clashing metals and Neubauten-school death-rattles, when these young Finns aren’t recording themselves kicking empty fridges around derelict warehouses, they are like a murmuring, hard-shelled Suicide. Early Bourbonese Qualk or Konstruktivist-style beat tracks are hammered out amongst frost-bitten minimal synthesis and snarling, nocturnal electronics - all delivered with a subdued, mutant fury that will chew you to BITS !
Highest possible recommendation, prophetic shit!!
